Naruto and Hinata's wedding is the final arc of the Naruto: Shippūden anime, taking place across episodes 494 to 500. The anime adaptation is based on the Konoha Hiden: The Perfect Day for a Wedding novel from the Naruto Hiden series. The episodes leading up to the wedding see the Konoha 11 struggling to find the perfect wedding gifts for the couple, and Kakashi turning the wedding into a mission to ensure everyone can attend. The wedding itself is not shown in the anime, but images of the ceremony can be seen in the credits of The Last: Naruto the Movie.

Kakashi turns the wedding into a mission

Kakashi, the Copy Ninja, turned Naruto and Hinata's wedding into a mission to ensure everyone made it to the ceremony. This was a slight abuse of his power, but it was the right decision considering how many people owed their lives to Naruto. Kakashi was also paying respect to his former pupil and future Hokage. He even made it a mission for the attendees to find the best gifts possible for the pair, making sure the day was as special and perfect as it could be for the loving couple.

Rock Lee and Might Guy's gift

Rock Lee and Might Guy gifted Naruto and Hinata dumbbells for their wedding. This was after much contemplation, as Lee had to run 864 laps around Konoha before collapsing from exhaustion, unable to think of a suitable gift. He even had a dream about Neji to help him decide. Might Guy, too, was struggling to think of a gift, so he suggested they each think of a present for one half of the couple. Lee thought about Hinata's future as a mother and housewife, and Guy imagined Naruto's future as the person doing house maintenance and grocery shopping. They both concluded that dumbbells would be the perfect gift to help the couple prepare for their future lives.

Tenten's gift worries

Tenten was worried about giving the worst gift at Naruto and Hinata's wedding. Due to her fascination with weaponry, she had very little money to spare, which made finding the perfect gift tough. She considered giving them a kunai, but worried that it was too predictable and reflected poorly on her. She worried that it would make her seem like she cared more for weapons than finding a partner like Hinata.

Tenten was relieved when she learned of Rock Lee's gift—a set of dumbbells. She was also grateful that Rock Lee showed up wearing a dress, ensuring that she wouldn't give the same gift. Tenten eventually settled on a custom-made kunai as her gift.

This led to a tour of the Konoha Hot Springs, with Temari becoming increasingly flustered as she believed Shikamaru was taking their relationship to the next level very quickly. Despite the misunderstanding, the encounter brought the pair closer together, and it was obvious to onlookers that they were going to be a pair for life.

Shikamaru and Temari's relationship developed over time, with the couple first appearing to have very different personalities and worldviews. Temari was often presented as an 'iron lady', able to use her intelligence and brute force to defeat her enemies. In contrast, Shikamaru was initially portrayed with problematic views about women, deeming them bothersome and dismissive. However, as the series progressed, their views of each other and the opposite sex changed. Temari showed her softer side, and the pair developed mutual respect and admiration for each other. They even gave each other nicknames, a sign of their growing fondness.

Shikamaru and Temari's relationship was also strengthened by their shared experiences and teamwork. Temari saved Shikamaru's life during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, and the pair worked together during the Fourth Shinobi War, where Temari admired Shikamaru's leadership skills and believed he would make a great Hokage. Their relationship was tested during the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki Arc, where Temari grew suspicious of Shikamaru's strange behaviour and even slapped him. However, they eventually reconciled, and their relationship grew stronger.

Iruka's exam and promotion

Iruka Umino is a chūnin-level shinobi of Konohagakure who serves as an instructor at the Academy. He is a man of average height and build, with black hair (brown in the anime) that he keeps in a ponytail, dark eyes, and a scar across the bridge of his nose. He wears the standard Konoha shinobi outfit, including a forehead protector, sandals, and a flak jacket. As a child, he wore a simple outfit with mesh armour underneath.

Iruka's parents were killed by the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox during its attack on Konoha, leaving him orphaned and with no one to acknowledge him. This led him to become a prankster, acting out to gain attention and stave off his loneliness. Despite this difficult childhood, Iruka remained determined and strong-willed, with a kind disposition. He eventually became a teacher, inspired by the Third Hokage's wisdom and recognising that his heart and compassion might lead him to injure himself or others in the field.

As an instructor, Iruka is both big-hearted and soft-hearted, keeping a watchful eye on his students as they progress. However, he can also be stern when necessary, shouting at his students to get them to obey. Due to his nurturing nature, Naruto views Iruka as a mentor, and Iruka sees Naruto as a younger brother. Iruka is one of the only adults that Naruto respected in his youth and the only person who could control his behaviour to some degree.

Iruka is highly proficient in basic ninja skills and has some skill with Barrier Ninjutsu, nature transformation, and genjutsu. He has completed 573 official missions in total: 288 D-rank, 183 C-rank, 90 B-rank, 12 A-rank, and 0 S-rank. He has also shown skill in shurikenjutsu and echolocation.

After the Fourth Great Shinobi War, Kakashi assigned Iruka to be Naruto's Jonin teacher for two years since he hadn't taken the Chunin Exams. Years later, Iruka was given an advanced exam for his promotion to vice-principal of the Academy. He was also assigned to find a new instructor, ultimately choosing Shino Aburame as his successor. After 12 years, Iruka became the principal of the Academy.
