Red Wedding Episode: A Stark Tragedy

The Red Wedding took place in the penultimate episode of season three of Game of Thrones, titled The Rains of Castamere. The episode, which first aired on June 2, 2013, is widely regarded as one of the most shocking and traumatic episodes in TV history.

Robb Stark's death

King Robb Stark's death was one of the most shocking moments in *Game of Thrones*. Robb was the eldest son of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell and his wife, Lady Catelyn. She slapped Roose and shouted a warning to Robb, but it was too late. Lothar Frey began to stab Robb's pregnant wife, Talisa, in the abdomen, killing her and their unborn child. Robb and the Northern guests were then shot with crossbow bolts by the musicians and attacked by Frey and Bolton men.

Catelyn, who had taken refuge under a table, noticed that Walder Frey's wife, Joyeuse Frey, was hiding under Walder's table. Catelyn dragged her out and put a knife to her throat, begging Walder to end the slaughter and allow Robb to leave. Robb, however, was too shocked by Talisa's death to respond. Catelyn offered herself as a hostage in exchange for Robb's life, but Walder refused. Robb then called out to his mother, and as Catelyn looked into his eyes, Roose Bolton stepped forward and stabbed Robb through the heart.

Catelyn then killed Joyeuse by slitting her throat. Mad with grief, she clawed at her own face, mixing her tears with blood, before Raymund Frey cut her throat. Catelyn's corpse was then thrown naked into the Green Fork, in mockery of the traditional House Tully funeral customs.

Talisa Stark's death

Talisa Stark, formerly Talisa Maegyr, was the wife of Robb Stark, the King in the North. She was a healer on the battlefields of the Westerlands, where she met Robb, fell in love with him, and eventually married him.

Talisa was present at the wedding of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey, which became known as the Red Wedding. During the wedding, Robb apologised to Lord Walder Frey and his daughters for breaking his betrothal to one of Frey's daughters. After Edmure and Roslin were married, the couple were taken away for the bedding ceremony. Talisa told Robb that she wanted to name their unborn son Eddard. The doors to the hall were then locked, and the musicians began to play 'The Rains of Castamere', a Lannister song. Robb and Catelyn Stark realised that they had been betrayed by Roose Bolton.

The Freys then began their attack, with Lothar Frey stabbing Talisa in the stomach multiple times, killing her and her unborn child. Robb was stabbed and killed by Roose Bolton, and Catelyn's throat was cut by Black Walder Frey.

Talisa's death was avenged by her sister-in-law, Arya, who murdered Lothar Frey, Black Walder, and Lord Walder Frey.

Edmure Tully's capture

Edmure Tully, the Lord of Riverrun and Lord Paramount of the Trident, is the son and heir of the late Lord Hoster Tully of Riverrun. He is the younger brother of Catelyn and Lysa. Edmure is first mentioned in a conversation between Robb and Rickard Karstark, where they discuss the march to Hoster's funeral.

Edmure is a military leader, described as fairly competent but a little proud. He is also considered impetuous, and his rash actions are often motivated by a desire for personal glory. Edmure is a well-meaning and dutiful man, who genuinely cares for the commoners he rules over. He is fond of smiling and pretty girls, but can become sullen and angry when things don't go his way.
