Randall and Beth's fears about Deja

In the second season of "This Is Us", Randall and Beth's fears about Deja come to a head at Kate's wedding. During the wedding, Deja is triggered by a comment from Toby's mother, who assumes that Deja is Randall and Beth's biological daughter. This reminder that Randall and Beth are not her parents and that her own mother gave up on her causes Deja to snap. She takes a baseball bat and attacks Kevin's "fancy car", which Randall had promised could one day be hers.

Deja even refers to Randall as her ""day 1", demonstrating the strong bond that has formed between them.

Kevin's romantic tryst

Cassidy arrives at Kevin's door, seeking help with unzipping her dress, and they praise their platonic connection.

In the end, it is revealed that Kevin's future is with Sophie, his day-one love.
