The wedding was held at the Burrow, the Weasley family home

The wedding of William Weasley and Fleur Delacour took place on 1 August 1997 at the Burrow, the Weasley family home in Devon, England. The Burrow had been decorated with Flutterby bushes, the chickens were shut away, and the garden had been pruned. The wedding ceremony took place in a marquee in the orchard, with rows of fragile golden chairs set on either side of a long purple carpet. The supporting poles were entwined with white and gold flowers, and Fred and George Weasley had fastened an enormous bunch of golden balloons above the spot where Bill and Fleur would exchange their vows.

The bride and groom's younger sisters, Gabrielle Delacour and Ginny Weasley, served as bridesmaids, and Bill's younger brother Charlie was the best man. The wedding was attended by family and friends, including Harry Potter (disguised as a Weasley cousin), Hermione Granger, Viktor Krum, Nymphadora Tonks, and Remus Lupin.

The ceremony was interrupted by the arrival of Kingsley Shacklebolt's Patronus, which announced that the Ministry of Magic had fallen to Lord Voldemort and that Death Eaters were on their way. Panic ensued, and many guests began to Disapparate. Death Eaters soon arrived and began interrogating those who remained, including several members of the Order of the Phoenix. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt, and Bill and Fleur were able to escape unharmed.

Death Eaters arrived and began interrogating guests

The wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour was interrupted by the arrival of Death Eaters, who began to interrogate the guests. The wedding took place on 1 August 1997 at the Burrow, the Weasley family home in Devon, England. The reception was in full swing when news arrived that Lord Voldemort had taken over the British Ministry of Magic, throwing the guests into panic.

Death Eaters began Apparating into the crowd, crashing the reception. Order members such as Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks started casting Shield Charms to protect the wedding party, while Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger pushed through the crowd to escape. With Harry's hand in hers and Ron's on her free arm, Hermione Disapparated the three of them away to Tottenham Court Road, thus beginning their quest to find the Horcruxes.

Those who remained behind were interrogated by the Death Eaters, who were seeking information about Harry's whereabouts. The Death Eaters searched the Burrow from top to bottom and found the Weasley family ghoul, which had been Transfigured to look like Ron, sick with spattergroit. This disguise deterred them from inspecting further, and so Ron's cover was preserved. The Death Eaters also broke into other Order-connected houses, including Dedalus Diggle's home, which they burned down, and the home of Ted and Andromeda Tonks, who were tortured for information about Harry.

Arthur Weasley, Bill's father, later sent a Patronus message to Harry, Ron and Hermione, letting them know that those who remained at the wedding were released unharmed, but warning them not to attempt contact as the Weasleys were now under surveillance.

Harry, Ron and Hermione escaped to Tottenham Court Road

As panic spread among the guests, Hermione grabbed Harry and Ron's hands and Disapparated them to Tottenham Court Road. They needed to find somewhere for Harry to change out of his Weasley cousin disguise and into some normal clothes. They walked down the street, passing a group of drunk workmen who wolf-whistled at Hermione. They entered a café, the Luchino Caffe, and unknowingly triggered the Taboo on Lord Voldemort's name.

The Death Eaters tracked them to the café, and a skirmish ensued. Harry, under his Invisibility Cloak, stunned one of the Death Eaters, later identified as Thorfinn Rowle. The other Death Eater, Antonin Dolohov, bound Ron with black ropes. Harry's second stunner missed and hit a Muggle waitress, and Dolohov cast Expulso, blowing up a table and slamming Harry into a wall. As the Invisibility Cloak began to slip off Harry, Hermione struck Dolohov with a Full Body-Bind Curse. The trio then wiped the Death Eaters' memories and Disapparated to Grimmauld Place.

Bill and Fleur later set up a new home in Shell Cottage

After their wedding, Bill and Fleur moved into Shell Cottage, a house located on the outskirts of Tinworth, Cornwall, near the coast. The cottage had previously belonged to an aunt of the Weasley children, and Molly and Arthur Weasley had taken their children there when they were younger.

The cottage was described as a "lonely and beautiful place". It stood alone on a cliff overlooking the sea, with walls embedded with shells and whitewashed. The constant sound of the sea could be heard from inside the cottage and its garden.

Shell Cottage was protected by the Fidelius Charm, with Bill Weasley as its Secret-Keeper. It served as a safe house for the Order of the Phoenix, hosting Harry, Ron, Hermione, and others after they escaped Malfoy Manor. It was also where Dobby the house elf was laid to rest after being killed during the rescue.

Bill and Fleur raised their three children, Victoire, Dominique, and Louis Weasley, at Shell Cottage after the end of the Second Wizarding War in May 1998.
