Plot of Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids is an American comedy film released in 2011. The plot centres on Annie Walker (Kristen Wiig), a single woman in her thirties who, after the failure of her bakery and a subsequent series of misfortunes, is asked to serve as the maid of honour for her best friend Lillian's (Maya Rudolph) wedding.

Annie's life is in disarray. Her bakery, Cake Baby, has failed, causing her to lose her savings and her boyfriend. She now works in a jewellery store and shares an apartment with obnoxious British immigrant siblings, Gil and Brynn. She also has an unfulfilling sexual relationship with a wealthy and self-absorbed man named Ted, who does not respect her. The only positive presence in Annie's life is her lifelong best friend, Lillian.

When Lillian gets engaged, she asks Annie to be her maid of honour. At the engagement party, Annie meets the other bridesmaids: Lillian's cynical cousin Rita, her idealistic newlywed friend Becca, Doug's raunchy sister Megan, and Helen, the wealthy, snobby wife of Doug's boss. Annie and Helen instantly become jealous of each other's friendship with Lillian and compete for her attention.

Annie's suggestion for a bachelorette party at Lillian's parents' lake house is overruled by Helen, who plans a trip to Las Vegas instead. Unable to afford a first-class ticket, Annie books a ticket in economy. She accepts a sedative and liquor from Helen to help with her fear of flying, but the combination causes her to hallucinate and suffer a breakdown, leading to an emergency plane landing. The party takes a bus home, and Lillian decides that Helen should take over planning the bridal shower and wedding.

Meanwhile, Annie grows closer to Nathan Rhodes, a Wisconsin State Trooper who encourages her to reopen a bakery. After spending a romantic night together, Annie panics and leaves when Nathan surprises her with baking supplies. She is later fired from her job after an argument with a customer and is evicted by her roommates, forcing her to move in with her mother.

Annie travels to Chicago for the bridal shower, which Helen has transformed into a Parisian-themed event. Helen upstages Annie's gift by giving Lillian a trip to Paris, and Annie flies into a rage, berating Helen and Lillian and destroying the decor. She is then kicked out of the shower and disinvited from the wedding.

On her way home, Annie gets into a car accident, and Nathan arrives as the responding officer. However, when Ted arrives to give Annie a ride, Nathan storms off in disgust. Ted asks Annie to perform oral sex on him, and she breaks off their relationship.

Megan visits Annie and motivates her to take control of her life. Annie resumes baking and tries to make amends with Nathan. On the day of the wedding, Helen arrives at Annie's apartment, begging for help finding Lillian, who has disappeared. Helen apologises to Annie, revealing that she feels lonely and unsatisfied in her marriage. With Nathan's help, they find Lillian, and Annie reconciles with her and resumes her role as maid of honour.

After the wedding, Annie and Helen share a hug, and Nathan arrives to pick up Annie. Annie and Nathan kiss and ride away in his police car.
