American Pie Wedding: What Really Happened?

*American Wedding*, also known as *American Pie 3: The Wedding* or *American Pie: The Wedding*, is a 2003 comedy film and the third instalment of the *American Pie* franchise. The film follows the wedding of Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) and Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan) and the outrageous antics of their friend, Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott). Despite Jim's wishes to exclude Stifler from the wedding, he agrees to teach Jim how to dance in exchange for planning the bachelor party. Chaos ensues as Stifler competes with Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) for the heart of Michelle's sister, Cadence (January Jones), and inadvertently walks into a gay bar during a trip to find Michelle's wedding dress designer. The film concludes with Jim and Michelle's wedding and a reception where Stifler dances with Cadence, and Finch ends up with Stifler's mom.

Jim and Michelle's engagement

Jim Levenstein and Michelle Flaherty's engagement begins with a chaotic proposal. The couple are celebrating their college graduation in their favourite restaurant when Jim intends to propose. However, his plans are interrupted when his dad calls to tell him that he forgot to give him the engagement ring and is on his way to the restaurant. As Jim tries to stall, Michelle misinterprets his intentions and performs oral sex on him under the table. When his dad arrives, Jim tries to hide what's happening, but after Michelle bumps her head in shock at hearing about the proposal, she is exposed. Despite the embarrassing scene, Jim still proposes, and Michelle accepts.

During their engagement party, Stifler, now an assistant football coach, arrives at Jim's house and begins messing with the cake. Jim tries to keep him away from Michelle's parents, but his efforts are unsuccessful when he and Stifler get cake on their pants, attracting the attention of Michelle's parents' dogs. Stifler eventually finds out about the wedding and gets permission to attend and plan the bachelor party in exchange for teaching Jim how to dance.

Jim, wanting the wedding to go as smoothly as possible, enlists the help of his best friends, Kevin and Paul Finch, to keep Stifler out of trouble. However, complications arise when Michelle's desired wedding dress is made by only one designer. Jim, Stifler, Kevin, and Finch travel to Chicago to find the designer, and Stifler inadvertently walks into a gay bar, where he meets a man named Bear. Despite Stifler's rude behaviour, the designer agrees to make the dress after Stifler wins a dance-off against Bear.

Back at Jim's house, Stifler arranges a bachelor party with the help of Bear, who introduces him to two strippers. The party is interrupted when Jim, who had arranged a dinner with Michelle's parents, arrives home. Stifler and Bear hide the strippers, but Michelle's mother finds Kevin tied up in a closet. They manage to salvage the situation by claiming it was an attempt to make Jim look like a hero, and Michelle's parents give their blessing for the marriage.

Michelle's sister, Cadence, arrives for the wedding, and both Finch and Stifler are attracted to her. Stifler adopts a more mild-mannered persona to impress Cadence, but when Finch realises she is tiring of this behaviour, he begins acting like Stifler. Cadence catches on to their switch and is left with a difficult choice. Despite his antics, Stifler feels guilty for killing the flowers the night before the wedding and enlists his football team to set up new flowers. Cadence ultimately chooses Stifler, leaving him in a rare moment of humility.

Despite the chaos and embarrassing moments, Jim and Michelle's engagement leads to a heartwarming wedding, where they are surrounded by their families and friends, including Jim's old friends from high school.

Stifler's bachelor party

Stifler, played by Seann William Scott, is tasked with organising the bachelor party for Jim, played by Jason Biggs. Stifler is a loud-mouthed, obnoxious character with a puerile attitude towards sex and a foul sense of humour. He is known for throwing wild parties and his behaviour often gets him into trouble with his peers.

The bachelor party is also a key part of Stifler's romantic subplot with Cadence, Michelle's sister. Stifler and Finch are both attracted to Cadence and compete for her affections. Stifler adopts a more mild-mannered and polite persona to impress Cadence, but his true colours are eventually revealed, and he is kicked out of the wedding preparations. However, he redeems himself by helping to fix a problem with the flowers and wins Cadence's heart.

The film ends with Jim and Michelle getting married, and Stifler dancing with Cadence at the reception.

Jim's dance lessons

Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) enlists the help of his friend Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott) to teach him how to dance for his wedding to Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan). Stifler agrees to teach Jim how to dance on the condition that he is allowed to attend the wedding and plan the bachelor party.

Upon hearing that Cadence is looking for a decent guy, Stifler adopts a more meek and preppy attitude, acting like Finch and quoting things he has said in the past. He avoids swearing and tries to appear intellectual, speaking about philosophy and art. However, when Finch realises that Cadence is tiring of the intellectual Stifler, he switches tactics and begins acting like his usual self: immature, rude, and perverted.

Cadence eventually catches on to the two suitors' act and calls them out on it. Despite this, she chooses Stifler, and they have sex before the wedding ceremony. However, their relationship does not last long, and they break up after the wedding. Stifler's true colours are revealed when he inadvertently ruins the flowers for the wedding and shows his obnoxious personality.

Finch, on the other hand, takes the loss in stride, telling Stifler that he was probably better for her anyway. Stifler is still aggravated by Finch's grace in defeat, but Finch reminds him that he slept with Stifler's mother, twice.

The wedding ceremony

During the lead-up to the wedding, Jim enlists the help of his friends Finch and Kevin to make sure everything goes smoothly and to keep Stifler out of the way. However, Stifler agrees to teach Jim how to dance in exchange for being allowed to plan the bachelor party.

On the night before the wedding, Stifler ruins the flowers by accidentally turning off the walk-in refrigerator. He feels guilty and manages to get a new batch of flowers, enlisting the help of his football players and Bear, a burly man he met in a gay bar. Stifler also gives a rose to Cadence, Michelle's younger sister, with whom he has been trying to start a relationship. Moved by his actions, she agrees to have sex with him before the ceremony. However, Stifler accidentally ends up having sex with Jim's grandmother, who was put in a supply closet by two of Jim's friends. Because of Stifler, Jim's grandmother grows considerably nicer.

Despite the chaotic events leading up to it, the wedding ceremony goes ahead without a hitch.
