Uncle's Betrayal At The Red Wedding

Edmure Tully, Robb Stark's uncle, was the only member of the Stark family to survive the Red Wedding. Edmure was kept alive as a captive of the Freys, while Robb, his wife Talisa, and Robb's mother Catelyn were all brutally murdered.

Edmure Tully, Robb Stark's uncle, marries Roslin Frey at the Red Wedding. The wedding is held at the Twins, the castle seat of House Frey, and is hosted by Lord Walder Frey. The ceremony is a political move to repair the alliance between House Stark and House Frey, which was broken when Robb married Talisa Maegyr instead of one of Lord Frey's daughters.

The wedding is also part of a plot by Lord Frey, Lord Roose Bolton, and Tywin Lannister to massacre the Starks and their army. Robb, his pregnant wife Talisa, and his mother Catelyn are all killed at the wedding, along with many Northern and Riverlander soldiers. Edmure survives the Red Wedding and becomes a captive of the Freys.

Catelyn is the first to realise that the Freys and Boltons are plotting a massacre when she sees chain mail under Roose Bolton's wedding clothes. Before she can warn Robb, she is shot multiple times with crossbow bolts.

Catelyn's last acts are to slash Walder Frey's wife's throat and watch Robb die. She yells out in grief before having her own throat slit.

Catelyn's corpse is then desecrated. In a cruel mockery of traditional House Tully funeral customs, which involve cremating a body on a burning boat set adrift in the Trident River, the Freys unceremoniously fling Catelyn's naked corpse from the battlements of the Twins, throwing it into the river to rot.

Robb's wife Talisa Stark is killed at the Red Wedding

Robb Stark's wife, Talisa Stark, was killed at the Red Wedding. Talisa was a healer on the battlefields of the Westerlands, where she met Robb and fell in love with him. She tended to a wounded Lannister soldier after the Battle of Oxcross, with Robb's help. Robb and Talisa got married in secret, pledging their lives to each other.

Talisa was visibly pregnant with Robb's child at the Red Wedding. The massacre began with the stabbing of Talisa, an act so shocking that Robb froze. Talisa was stabbed multiple times in the stomach by Lothar Frey, killing her and her unborn child. Talisa's death was one of the most horrifying deaths in Game of Thrones. Robb, wounded with several crossbow bolts, crawled towards Talisa and embraced her, devastated over the loss of his beloved wife and unborn child.

Talisa's murder was avenged by her sister-in-law, Arya Stark, who murdered Lothar Frey and Walder Frey, and baked them both into pies that she served to Walder before slitting his throat.

Robb's bannermen turn on him at the Red Wedding

Robb Stark's bannermen, the Boltons, turned on him at the Red Wedding. The betrayal was orchestrated by Lord Roose Bolton, who personally killed Robb by stabbing him in the heart. The Freys, led by Lord Walder Frey, were also involved in the conspiracy.

The Red Wedding was a trap set by the Boltons and Freys to slaughter Robb and his army. The Freys had withdrawn their support for Robb's cause when he reneged on his promise to marry one of Walder Frey's daughters. Robb tried to make amends by agreeing that his uncle, Edmure Tully, would marry one of Frey's daughters. Edmure's wedding to Roslin Frey was held at the Twins, the castle seat of House Frey, and Robb and his army attended the celebrations.

During the festivities, the musicians began playing "The Rains of Castamere", a song associated with the Lannisters. This was the signal for the massacre to begin. Robb and his men were attacked by Frey men and crossbowmen, and Robb was shot with multiple crossbow bolts. Robb's direwolf, Grey Wind, was also killed. Robb was then stabbed in the heart by Roose Bolton, who said, "The Lannisters send their regards".

Robb's mother, Catelyn, was also killed during the Red Wedding. She had her throat slit by one of Walder Frey's sons, known as "Black" Walder Rivers.

The Red Wedding resulted in the deaths of Robb, Catelyn, and many Northern and Riverlander soldiers. It ended the northern rebellion and allowed the Lannisters to win the War of the Five Kings.

Grey Wind, Robb Stark's direwolf, was killed during the Red Wedding. Robb had left Grey Wind tethered in the stables during the wedding of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey, as Lord Walder Frey had banned the direwolf from his hall. When the Freys and Boltons turned on the Starks, Grey Wind was released by Raynald Westerling and attacked the Frey men, killing four wolfhounds and maiming the kennelmaster, despite being shot with several crossbow bolts. Grey Wind ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

After the massacre, the Freys decapitated Grey Wind and Robb Stark, sewing the direwolf's head onto Robb's body and nailing a crown on top of it as a final insult to the Starks.
