The plot
Betsy, tired of waiting for Jack to get over his issues, craves immediate commitment. Jack eventually proposes that they elope to Las Vegas to get married. Once in Vegas, Betsy catches the attention of Tommy Korman, a wealthy gambler. Betsy bears an uncanny resemblance to Tommy's late wife, Donna, who died of skin cancer. Obsessed with the idea that Betsy is his wife reincarnated, Tommy decides that he must have her and lures Jack into a poker game with steadily escalating stakes.
Jack ends up losing 5K in the poker game and the only way he can possibly meet his losses is by agreeing to Tommy's terms. Tommy wants a weekend alone with Betsy, and Betsy is trapped between two desperate men—her lover, Jack, and the gambler, Tommy, who is willing to offer Jack money to clear his debt in exchange for time with Betsy.
Jack realizes the depth of his mistakes and flies to Hawaii to win Betsy back, but he is led astray by Tommy's people, who inform him of Betsy's plan to marry Tommy. Determined to get her back, Jack stows away on a flight back to Vegas with numerous Elvis impersonators. Betsy, realizing that her decision to marry Tommy is too rash, tells him that she has changed her mind.
