Creating an Amazon Wedding Registry

To get started, you will need to enter your name and your partner's name. Then, go to the Wedding Registry homepage and click "Create a Wedding Registry". Sign in to your Amazon account or create one, and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can decide whether you want your registry to be public (searchable on Amazon), shareable (only shared via a link), or private (only visible to yourself). Amazon also offers a group-gifting option where guests can contribute to pricier items. You can also shop anywhere on the internet and add those products to your registry using the Amazon Assistant browser extension.

Amazon offers a 20% completion discount for registrants who have received $500 or more in qualifying purchases from their registry. You can also create a Gift Card Fund by visiting the "Your Registries and Gift Lists" page, choosing your Wedding Registry, and selecting "Gift Card Funds".

With everything from home essentials to unique finds, couples can build an Amazon Wedding Registry that suits their style and ensures guests have a stress-free shopping experience.

Finding a couple's registry

To find a couple's registry on Amazon, you can use Amazon's simple registry search tool. Here are the steps to follow:

On a Computer:

  • Go to the Amazon homepage and hover over "Accounts & Lists" at the top of the page.
  • Under the "Your Lists" heading, click on "Find a List or Registry".
  • This will lead you to the "Registry and Gifting" page. Click on "Find a Registry".
  • Enter the name of the couple and select "Wedding Registry" from the menu.
  • If you are getting too many results or are unable to find the right registry, you can narrow down your search by selecting additional options such as the location or event date.
  • Select the registrant's name to view their registry.

On the Amazon App:

  • Tap the ☰ (three horizontal lines) in the bottom-right corner of the app.
  • Select "Gifting & Registry", followed by "Registry & Gift List".
  • Tap "Find a registry".
  • Enter the person's name and select "Wedding Registry".
  • Tap "Search".

Additional Notes:

  • Wedding registries are searchable 15 minutes after creation.
  • If the registry owner has marked their registry as Private or Shared, you won't be able to search for it unless they change the privacy level to Public.
  • You don't need an Amazon account to find someone's registry.

Adding items to your registry

Once your Amazon wedding registry is set up, you can start adding gifts. On every Amazon product detail page, there's an "Add to Wedding Registry" button. Clicking this automatically puts the product into your registry. You can also use the Gift Advisor feature to get recommendations based on your preferences and price levels.

Amazon also has curated collections and a list of popular gifts to help inspire you. You can add splurge-worthy items, upgrades to your home, fun things you wouldn't normally buy, or practical things you need.

You could also consider adding some of the following:

  • Stasher bags
  • Silicone measuring cup set
  • Dinnerware set
  • Glassware set
  • Knife block set
  • Food storage canisters
  • Cutting boards
  • Bath towels and bath mats
  • Wood farmhouse coffee table
  • Wood end table
  • Striped throw blanket
  • Seagrass storage baskets
  • Black candlesticks

Remember, you can always add more gifts to each section, and you can break out registry items into price ranges from $0 to $25 to gifts over $150.

Privacy settings

When creating an Amazon wedding registry, you can choose from three privacy settings: "Private," "Shareable," or "Public". You can update your registry's privacy settings at any time.

If you select "Public", anyone can easily search for and find your registry on Amazon. You can make your registry public by clicking "Find a Registry" in the navigation bar at the top right corner of the page. From there, you can use advanced search to find a registry using the name, city or state, and event date.

If you select "Shareable", you can choose when and how to share your registry with friends and family. You can copy the link or customize it, for example, with your and your partner's names. You can also share the link on social media or directly via email or messaging apps.

If you select "Private", only those with the link will be able to access your registry.

Additionally, to protect your privacy, people viewing your registry will only see your name, city, and state. If you purchase from a wedding registry, Amazon may provide your full name and address to the list owner on delivery.

Group gifting

To enable Group Gifting, go to your Wedding Registry and select Settings. Check the 'Enable Group Gifting' box and enter the desired dollar value for items (the default is $300). You can turn Group Gifting on or off for any item and change the default amount accordingly.

You can view Group Gift contributions by selecting the items in your Wedding Registry or by opening your Thank You List. You will see the names and addresses of those who have contributed if your guests have opted to share their information. Each item enabled for Group Gifting will show a dollar amount for contributions received so far, and it will be marked as fully funded when enough contributions have been received to purchase the item.

If the price of an item is less than the amount contributed, the remainder will be applied to the primary registry owner's Amazon.com balance. If the price is more than the contributed amount, the owner must pay the difference. A 10% charge is applied to cover sales taxes, and if the calculated sales tax is less than this, the difference is applied to the owner's gift card balance.

Note that items with Group Gifting contributions will not ship until purchased by the registry owner.
