Then, cut one of those pieces in half again to create two more half pieces. Finally, cut the other piece into 5 small pieces of varying lengths. Don't worry about making perfect cuts, as having different lengths will add a natural and organic feel to your arrangement.

Now it's time to assemble the greenery pieces to create the base. Take the two longest pieces of garland and tie them together using wire, ensuring their ends face outward. This will form the main structure of your greenery base.

Step 3: Add the Smaller Garland Pieces

To add visual interest and texture, you will now incorporate the smaller garland pieces. Cut small pieces of green floral tubing and hot glue them to the center of the main garland structure. Then, insert the smaller garland pieces into the tubing, securing them in place with the hot glue. Feel free to adjust the placement of the smaller pieces to achieve your desired look.

Step 4: Prepare the Greenery Base for Flowers

At this point, you have a finished greenery base that is ready for flowers. To prepare it for the next step, tie 7-8 iron wires to the center of the garland, using pliers to secure them in place. Cut off any excess wire, leaving a small branch to which you can attach flowers. Bend these wires apart and reinforce them with hot glue. Finally, attach floral tubing to the wires, which will allow for easy flower insertion and protect your hands from any sharp edges.

This will help draw the eye upwards and help you conceal the base. When you're happy, add a final layer of hot glue to the base to keep your design secure.

Creating a free-standing base

Now, let’s make two free-standing floral arrangements to go at the base of your sweetheart table.

First, take a piece of flower mud and cut it to fit your half-dome base. We’re using a base that has small holes throughout the surface, which will allow us to insert greenery and flowers into the flower mud.

Once you've cut the flower mud, take a piece of cardboard and cut it to cover the bottom of the base. Glue the cardboard to the bottom of the base with hot glue. This will keep the flower mud secure inside.

A tip to keep in mind: If you can’t find a half-dome base at a crafting store, you could also insert your flower mud into a decorative pot or vase.

With your base finished, let’s begin building your floral arrangement. Cut individual branches of greenery from your greenery spray, then insert them one by one into the base. Insert your largest branches into the centre, and surround them with smaller cuttings. This will give your design a natural look, as the greenery will appear to radiate outward from the centre.
